Morning Pages

About 10 years ago, I discovered a book by Julia Cameron, The Artist's Way.  It's an excellent book about the strategy one needs to excavate the artist in each of us.  We all have a book to write, stories to tell, paintings to create, photographs to take, something that brings out our creative side.

One of the things Julia suggests to jump-start that process is called the Morning Pages.  Morning Pages is an exercise in which one writes in longhand three pages of anything that comes into the mind.  It doesn't require punctuation, editing, writing prowess ... none of that.  It just requires some sheets of paper or a notebook, a pen or a pencil.  The key is to do them first thing in the morning before you start your day.

For years I did the Morning Pages, first thing when I got up in the morning.  I stopped about 5 years ago and have felt kind of scattered ever since.  So guess what?  I'm going back to my Morning Pages, starting tomorrow.
As a sidenote ... during the time when I was faithful with my Morning Pages every morning, I landed a gig to re-write a series of training manuals that netted me $10,000.  So ... back to those pages for me!

Today's photo is of Darryl in the desert outside Saguaro National Park (a couple of special effects added):

Namaste!
